The Project

When speaking to any consumer about what they think about Wimpy two of the things you will hear come up are “holidays” and “road trips.”

Wimpy wants to win back its summer credentials and be top of mind when consumers think of summer and traveling.

ENGEN 1 STOP sites are busy during holiday seasons, with long waiting hours and kids getting impatient. Because of this, customers need to feel like their fun holiday has started as soon as they stop at a Wimpy to get fuel and food.

This year our theme was “If it’s a Summer make it a Wimpy Summer”.

The Solution

One of the biggest struggles of having families together is getting everyone together for a family photo. From children running around, aunties looking in the wrong place, and bad lighting and settings – it is very rare to get a good photo of the family summer holiday.

In being true to making summer an easy and fuss-free one at Wimpy, we created photo booths where families could get together in great lighting and fantastic settings (equipped with beach balls, beach chairs, fake palm trees – and everything that makes a summer vacation so sunny) and have their photo taken. Each photo booth had a theme. Each theme was based around family fun and family holidays. Each photo booth was interactive, meaning it encourages customer participation in having props that the customer can be involved in… picture a bicycle with 6 seats, a beach come to life, a family car and so much more – all for families to take photos in and get involved in the fun!

WIMPY also recently launched their premium coffee brand so we had staff offering you coffee on the go! They were stationed at the petrol pumps with fresh hot WIMPY coffee that you could purchase there and then a real pit, stop go!

We executed this across 15 ENGEN 1 Stops at the same time on national road routes from Johannesburg to Cape Town, Swaziland, Kwa-Zulu Natal & Port Elizabeth
